Forty Years ago after only six months of dating we got engaged, I'm 17 you 19, we go to the jewellers taking time off work all excited as this is truly the start of being officially together, although the rings and engagement are to wait until my 18th birthday on Christmas Eve
We choose our rings mine a daisy cluster of a little ruby (red being your favourite colour) surrounded by 6 tiny diamonds, yours a oval onyx ring with a tiny diamond in the centre, we walk home in a dream of happiness, me asking over and over can I try it on again, you saying no not until Christmas Eve, on getting back to your house you say do you want to see your ring again I'm so excited we laugh and are so happy as you put my ring on my finger and mine on yours, we look lovingly at the rings and the meaning it holds for us both. Then you say let's get engaged now, I want everyone to know you're my girl, I'm the happiest girl in the world, and neither of us want to part to go back to work as we'd both only got that morning off. We decide then and there six months from Christmas we will get married and be together forever, bliss.
I still think my engagement ring the most beautiful ring in the world, sadly yours got stolen in 2000 when we were burgled, you were already upset at having to leave it off until it could be enlarged and now both even more distressed at your precious ring was gone forever as it meant so much to us.


Strange I remember all this so clearly as always in the past yet I can't see you, only as a blur, ever since finding you gone has wiped my mInd of memories of us together and if I'm lucky out of the blue one filters through but I still can't see you, so writing this memory scared I will lose that too, so hurry and come back to me so I can see your wonderful loving face again, I love you and miss you so much, and need you as its so lonely without you, my heart is still breaking and yearning for you to be beside me again.
